MINI engineers attempted to remove some turbo and boost noise by placing, of all things, a muffler in the boost tubing. In the same fashion as an exhaust muffler is restrictive to performance, so is this! ALTA product designers created a simple, attractive way to remove this muffler and increase performance. |

Better HoseThe ALTA Turbo Hot Side Boost Tube replaces the restrictive plastic and rubber OEM piece with a 5-ply silicone, fiber reinforced tube. With a mirror smooth interior surface, larger diameter and tapered transitions, you get a dramatic decrease in restriction and turbulence. |

Free FlowBy removing the muffler you get a nice mellow tone to the turbo and a leap forward in power. The silicone hose is restriction free with its smooth surfaces and larger internal volume. |

Hot Side Boost Tube Test and TubeThe ultra smooth interior surfaces of the ALTA Boost Tube combined with the removal of the restrictive intake muffler allows your turbo to run more efficiently and free up HP. This above test was done on our MINI Cooper S, with intake, FMIC and turbo back (no AccessPORT or ECU tune) already installed. The before and after show how the Hot Side boost tube makes a noticeable change in horsepower. After installation, we saw an increase in boost of about 1.5psi higher, which this carried across the entire RPM band. Except above 5700, where the ECU didn't like seeing this extra boost. This loss in HP can be cured with with installing an ALTA AccessPORT ECU tuning device. This allows the ECU to accept the added boost and gain even more power! |
